What to Expect with Your Arm Lift
Our arm lift procedures are performed in Atlanta on an outpatient basis using general anesthesia. Most arm lift surgeries are completed in one-and-a-half to two to three hours, depending on the amount of excess skin. The procedure involves removing excess skin along an incision, which ideally falls along the line of blouse seam. The length and pattern of the incision are determined by how much skin will be removed.
If necessary, liposuction will be used to remove excess fat. Your skin will then be draped over the new contours and excess skin will be removed. After your arm lift, your incisions will be loosely wrapped in elastic bandages to minimize swelling.
Following your arm lift procedure, your upper arms will either wrapped or placed in an elastic sleeve to reduce swelling. Initial healing usually occurs in 10 to 14 days. Sutures are usually removed within the first one to two weeks. Swelling and bruising gradually disappear over three to four weeks.
All swelling is gone in three to six months. The scars fade in six to 24 months depending on your skin. An additional procedure that may enhance the result is liposuction of the upper arms.
